Do You Love The Skin You are In?

It is my opinion, that soft, glowing, radiant skin is such a great compliment to your  beauty. The skin is  the body’s largest organ. Unlike other organs, it is not hiding inside of our bodies out of sight. Needless to say, if the skin is unhealthy, it can  cause some insecurities within. Some women have nearly perfect skin. Sometimes people get lucky and don’t have skin problems barely having to do anything to take care of it. Others,  have to work very hard at maintaining healthy skin. As a licensed skin therapist, I am going to give you some basic knowledge about maintaining healthy skin. It does not require a lot of work, or money to do this.

The very first thing I want to advise you is to know your skin type. This will help you in understanding what product s to consider. My skin type is combination. My forehead it always oily, and this is where I have the most break outs. Other parts of my skin are normal, and I rarely have any issues with it. For my skin type, I bought skin care products for combination skin. Others may have dry, sensitive, normal, or oily skin. Regardless of your skin type, there are numerous skin care products that were designed for you.

Next, you should develop a skin care regimen, and stick to it. I recommend washing your face in the morning, and then again at night. The things that are important, are to clean, tone, moisturize, and protect.  They should be done in that order. Twice a week, you should also exfoliate your skin. When choosing the days you are going to exfoliate, try to spread the days out. For example, you should do it Monday, and Thursday. Remember, there are extrinsic factors that come into play when it comes to your skin, the biggest one being your environment. Be aware that the sun causes 90% of the wrinkles that we have. You must protect your skin from the sun. Also, always make sure your pillow cases and makeup brushes are cleaned properly.  Some of the additional  factors that we should really watch are alcohol, smoking, unhealthy eating habits, and drug use. Lastly, I always talk about drinking plenty of water. This, in my opinion, is the single best thing you can do for your skin (and your health in general)  I hope this helps, and inspires you guys.
